Gemma Vilahur is a Senior I3P Senior Researcher at the Catalan Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences (ICCC) of Barcelona and performs her research in this center since her return from the post-doctoral stage at the United States in 2006.
She has 93 articles published in prestigious scientific journals in the cardiovascular area (H-index = 24 and 1581 citations) including original manuscripts and reviews and has contributed to more than 26 book chapters.

She is co-investigator of more than 28 research projects, European (IMI-JU and ENCITE - FP7) and National (FIS; CDTI) projects, either funded by the government or industry, current PI of a National Project financed by the Spanish Ministry of Science and co-PI of industry-related projects. She is member of Spanish Research Networks of Cell Therapy and Cardiovascular Disease, Spanish Research Network of Cell Therapy (TerCel) and the Spanish Research Network for Cardiovascular Disease (RIC).

Dr. Vilahur has been awarded with the Young Investigator Award - European Society of Cardiology (ESC) (Berlin 2002, Vienna 2003, Viena 2007, and Munich 2008), Best scientific poster (ESC-London 2015), First Prize in the National Congress of Cardiology (Madrid 2007; Sevilla 2012), First Prize in the National Congress of atherosclerosis (Pamplona 2009; Zaragoza 2013), has received the Northwestern Cardiovascular Young Investigator's Forum and the Arteriosclerosis, Thrombosis, and Vascular Biology Merit Award of the American Heart Association (AHA; Chicago 2006) and has been awarded by L?Oreal-UNESCO foundation - for Women in Science (2012).

She is a Nucleus member of the Working Group of Thrombosis (2014-2018) from the European Society of Cardiology, a member of the Working group of Coronary Pathophysiology and Microcirculation (since 2013) and from the Spanish Society of Cardiology (since 2012). She is also member of the Spanish Society of Atherosclerosis (since 2001) and of the Mediterranean League against Thromboembolic Disease (MLTD). She has contributed to organize the MLTD (Valencia 2014) and Frontiers of Cardiovascular Biology (FCVB; Barcelona 2014) Meetings and she has founded the Scientists of Tomorrow working closely and under the umbrella of the CBCS ? European Society Cardiology (since 2012).

She is peer-review of International journals and National and International projects in the field of cardiovascular disease. She has a created a patent related to a new approach in the protection against ischemic heart disease.

Dr. Vilahur has wide experience in the pathophysiology of ischemic heart disease (atherothrombosis, myocardial infarction, biomarkers, cardiac remodelling and cardiac protection/repair) at both molecular biology and translational level.
